about

....The Bottom.

First, we'd like to thank our friends for listening. We don't believe in fans. If you support us and the music we offer the world, you are a friend of ours.

To the listener:

This album was conceived with everyday people in mind. It was not created according to the rules of the ever failing music industry. It was composed, arranged, mixed, and produced with the underdog in mind. It was created as an album for anyone in the world who has ever experienced struggle, hardship, and pain. It was created with the lower class in mind.....the class rarely if ever mentioned in the speeches of politicians and mainstream rappers.

During the creation and completion of this album, many of us, both as a band and individually, faced certain obstacles and calamities while continuing to fight artistically, mentally, physically, and spiritually.

The features on this album came by the blessings of JAH. One of the amazing stories is that Mumia Abu Jamal actually recorded his vocals live from prison in Pennsylvania, where he is still being currently held on a life sentence for a crime he never committed. Mumia is currently under attack as well as members of the MOVE 9, still in PA dungeons. Please pressure the " correctional " authorities in Pennsylvania to allow Mumia to receive the health care of his choice as he is very sick at this time. Also pressure our President to pardon Mumia and all political prisoners.

If you're going thru it now, or have ever gone thru it,
this album is for you.

It's never about staying at the bottom. It's about the rise from below.
The will to continue despite all one may face.
This album is for y'all.

We send a special thanks to all those amazing people who participated in the creation of this album, as well as those that have supported us thru the process:

The Cornel West Theory is a band born in the belly of the beast, Washington DC. inspired by the struggles of DC's ghettoes, Hip Hop, and the center of world politics, our music is rooted in hip hop, but smashed into a firebrand sound containing elements of punk, go-go, blues, jazz, and industrial noisescapes.
